A collar-length bead necklace and earring set in greens, pearl and gold, its shape taken from the mango leaves strung as a thoran across a doorway for festivals and rituals. Handmade by women artisans in North India, selected for the evenness of the work.
Why this one is in the store
A mango leaf is a long tapering curve that comes to a point, and beadwork only tapers by dropping the bead count row by row. Drop too fast and the leaf turns into a triangle; too slow and it never closes. Every leaf on this necklace narrows evenly to its tip, which is why it still reads as a thoran from across a room rather than as a row of green shapes.
Measurements
- Necklace: about 7 inches on each side of the centre, and about 1.2 inches wide
- Fastens with a lobster clasp on a metal extension chain, so the length is adjustable
- Set weight: about 30 grams

How to wear it
Wear it with green for a tonal reading, or with cream, mustard, red or gold, where the leaves and pearls come forward — the pairings come from my colour guide. Cream suits a daytime function; red and gold suit a festival or a temple visit. It sits as a collar at the base of the neck, so it works with a round or V neckline rather than a high one, and the extension chain lets you drop it a little lower if you prefer.
Materials and care
Green and pearl-coloured glass seed beads with gold beads, beaded by hand. The pearls are pearl-coloured glass, not real pearls. There is no plating on the beads. The clasp and extension chain are metal, and the earrings are hook danglers, so the set is not metal-free.
- Keep away from water, perfume, hairspray and chemicals
- Apply perfume and sprays first, and let them dry before wearing
- Remove before bathing, swimming or heavy sweating
- Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth
- Store dry and separate in an airtight pouch — this matters more here than on the all-bead pieces, because of the metal clasp and chain

- Pre-paid orders may be cancelled within 24h of order placement. A 5% payment gateway charge will apply.
- All COD orders require order confirmation through a phone call (I shall call you).
- Customized or made-to-order items are non-cancellable, non-returnable, and non-refundable, and are always pre-paid.
- Returns/replacements for non-customized items must be initiated within 48h of delivery through WhatsApp. COD returns/replacements can be initiated only after payment is received.
- For damaged products, an unboxing video is required. Once verified, The Yarn Artisan Store bears all return and replacement shipping costs.
- For preference-based returns/replacements (including change of mind or choosing a different design/colour), no unboxing video is required. A 5% transaction charge + ₹100 return shipping charge applies. For replacements, an additional ₹100 replacement shipping charge and any difference in product value will also apply.
- Returned items must be unused, in original condition, with original packaging, invoice and freebies intact.
