HOW BIG IS IT?
The pendant is 4 inches wide and 3 inches long. The chain is 16 inches on either side of the pendant, with a 12-inch custom handmade extension dory. The studs are about 1.5 inches by 1 inch.
WHAT IS IT MADE OF?
Nylon-polyester blended cord knotted by hand around an amethyst semi-precious stone, with faceted purple agate stone beads and antique gold beads. The stud fittings are metal, so this is not a metal-free piece.
WHY IS A BUTTERFLY HARD TO KNOT?
Because it is symmetrical, and the eye checks the second wing against the first immediately. A knot out of place on one side is invisible on its own and obvious next to its pair, so most of the eight hours goes into the matching.
CAN THE LENGTH BE CHANGED?
Yes. As it comes, it is 16 inches each side of the pendant plus a 12-inch extension dory. I can knot it shorter or longer — tell me on WhatsApp what drop you want.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR IT WITH?
A long drop, so it suits a plain kurta or a saree with a deeper neckline. Purple and antique gold sit well on cream, grey, black and mustard. Send me a photo of your outfit on WhatsApp at 91-9944952710 and I will tell you honestly whether it works.
IS THERE ANOTHER COLOUR?
Yes — this design can be worked in other colours, with a different centre stone, and at a different length. Message me on WhatsApp with what you want.
WHO MAKES IT?
I do. Every one is knotted by hand in my studio in Chennai, from scratch, each time it is ordered.
WHEN WILL IT BE DISPATCHED?
Made to order, and dispatched within 5 working days. Delivery is typically 2 to 3 days to metro cities and 5 to 7 days elsewhere in India.
IS CASH ON DELIVERY AVAILABLE?
Yes. COD is available within India on orders up to ₹3,999, with a ₹100 cash-handling charge added at checkout. Prepaid orders above ₹999 ship free.
CAN I RETURN IT?
Yes, on unaltered pieces within 48 hours of delivery — message me on WhatsApp at 91-9944952710. Customised orders are not returnable. Gift wrapping is ₹20.
HOW DO I CARE FOR IT?
  • Keep away from water, perfume, hairspray and chemicals
  • Apply perfume and sprays first, and let them dry before wearing
  • Remove before bathing, swimming or heavy sweating
  • Do not wash, soak or tug at the knots
  • Store dry and separate, ideally in a soft pouch

Wings are the hardest shape to knot, because the eye checks one against the other straight away and finds any difference. Eight hours per set and 54 metres of cord, a good part of it spent getting the second wing to match the first.
